Adult Sacraments RCIA Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. Interested in becoming a Catholic Christian? This process is for any person over the age of seven (7) years who has never been baptized; any baptized Christian of another faith, or any Catholic Adult who has not received the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. Members of the parish share the Catholic faith and answer your questions through a process that culminates with the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil.
Adult Confirmation Adult Confirmation classes are available for Adult Baptized Catholics.
Religious Education (First Reconciliation) The Catechism of the Catholic Church states: "Parents have the mission of teaching their children and sharing faith with their child. We the Church are here to support and help parents."
At Notre Dame Parish, preparing children to celebrate the Sacrament of First Reconciliation is a family centered process, independent of Religious Education classes or the Catholic School. Preparation begins in the second grade. Parents and children attend a workshop where they view a video on reconciliation, receive the book, and get information on the sacrament. The fee for the Sacramental Program is $20.00. We require a photocopy of your child's baptismal certificate at registration. Preparation begins at home, according to your schedule. The family then determines the readiness of their child and reception can be made in these ways:
First Eucharist Preparation for the Sacrament of First Eucharist begins in January or February for those in the Sacramental Preparation program. There is a workshop that parents and children attend to view a video and ask any questions there may be. Preparation is done at home according to your schedule. When your child is ready, you must schedule a meeting with one of the R.E. staff or a priest for a review. At that time we will make arrangements for the date of First Eucharist. There are two ways to receive Communion for the first time at Notre Dame.
Sunday Morning Religious Education Sunday Mornings from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. from October through April Notre Dame Sunday Morning Religious Education is recommended for children ages 3 years old (by September 15) to the 8th grade who do not attend Catholic school. This is a spiritual enrichment program that enhances preparation for the sacraments and the participation in Sunday Mass. Classes meet by grade level in the school. We register in Mid-September after Mass. Fees are $25.00 for one child $35.00 for two children $45.00 for three or more children
Vacation Bible School Each summer, Notre Dame enjoys a week long vacation bible school. All children ages 3 years old to fifth (5) grade are invited to participate. Children in the sixth grade and up are invited to volunteer to help out. There is always a need for adult volunteers. Please call us to join in on the fun. If you have any questions, please contact Sonja.
